Leeper Park Michigan Street Bridge
The Leeper Park Michigan Street Bridge Project aims to rehabilitate the historic bridge carrying State Road 933 (Michigan Street) across the St. Joseph River just north of downtown South Bend, Indiana. This bridge is unique to the landscape of the city. Constructed in 1914, the structure is a reinforced concrete arch bridge faced with Bedford limestone designed by Charles W. Cole, Mishawaka City Engineer. This project will reconstruct the primary elements of the bridge while maintaining its defining characteristics. Alternatives analysis, environmental review, and design are ongoing to identify and develop the best solution. Construction is anticipated to begin in 2025.
